Title
GWPD 1-Measuring water levels by use of a graduated steel tape
Author
Cunningham, W.L., and Schalk, C.W. (comps.)
Abstract/Summary Statement
See procedural document for exact instructions about how to measure water levels by use of a graduated steel tape. The following is a general summary of the method: Review recent measurements (to get an idea of how far to lower the tape down into the well to reach depth to water). Lower chalked steel tape down into the well. Hold tape at measuring point and record "HOLD" value. Bring up steel tape to surface and record the length of wetted chalk called the "CUT" value. Subtract CUT from Hold and record value as "water level below measuring point."
