Brief Method Summary
This method supplements the U.S. EPA's SW-846 Method 6020 (EPA 1992), and addresses the application of inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to radionuclides that are not covered in 6020. The concentrations of radionuclides in a digested sample are determined using an ICP-MS system.
Scope and Application
This method determines radionuclides in aqueous solutions, and is applicable only to samples with low radioactivity (so that minimum shielding is required).
Applicable Concentration Range
None given.
Interferences
Potential elemental and isobaric interferences.
Quality Control Requirements
Control chart of references standards no less than once a week when analyzing samples.
Sample Handling
Address the initial sample collection and handling in the SOP or in the project SOW.
Maximum Holding Time
Relative Cost
$51 to $200
